For about the first 3 years of my smoking life, I was mishearing the name of this strain. Maybe it was because I was forced to watch Forrest Gump a few too many times in my childhood, but when I was around 16 I could have sworn blind that this strain was called Bubba Gump. Bubba Kush is one of those strains that seems to have a million variants kicking around, but it would be naïve to assume that all these Bubbas are created equal. It would not, however, be naïve to assume that a Bubba Kush created by a collective of breeders working out of Humboldt County in Northern California would be one of the bombest Bubba’s you’ve ever smoked. Because it is.

This girl is a pure indica strain manipulated in a glorious manner by the Humboldt Seed Organisation, whose combined years of experience all but ensures that anything they touch will turn to pure gold. Developed totally organically, this plant grows best in that same type of environment but can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors to wonderful effect. For medical use, an organic grow is recommended, and anyone who appreciates the taste and smell of their pot just as much as the high is also advised to eschew chemicals for this strain. A short, bushy plant with a very short flowering time, this Bubba Kush is an indoor grower’s wet dream. Not only is it quite resistant to bugs and the occasional grower mistake, this plant doesn’t require anything special from you and will just happily plod along when (mainly) left to its own devices. If you choose to take a more hands-on approach, be sure to leave enough room around each seedling when it’s planted, or you’ll find that the wide growth will leave you stuck around the front of the plant with no space to get around the back and check what’s going on there. The crops will be uniform and beautiful; wide leaves, short internodal spacing and an incredibly strong structure mean that this could go in the dictionary next to the word “indica.” A textbook case.
